Okta: Google Authenticator

When you log in to Gmail but are not on the COV network, you will need to provide a second authentication method. Using Google Authenticator on your smartphone is one way to do this.

Here's how to set up Google Authenticator on your mobile phone.

  1. Navigate to https://virginia.okta.com

  2. Click on your username, click the dropdown button, and select “Settings”

  5. Once the Authenticator app is installed, log in to your Gmail account OFF of the COV network. If you are on the network and log out, cached credentials will prevent you from performing the Google Authenticator function.

  6. Navigate to https://mail.google.com and sign in with your work email.
